Product Overview
Nature's answer - yellowdock root - 1 fl oz
Yellow Dock Root, (Rumex Crispus) is a common perennial plant that is often found both in waste areas and cultivated ground. The flower stalk grows to about 3 feet tall, and has smooth leaves that may be curled. Towards the end of the growing season, it sends up flowers and seeds that cluster on branched stems. The shiny brown seeds can float on water which allows them to attach to animal fur which helps to distribute the plant. The young leaves have been used as a food source vegetable in early spring after boiling them twice .
The part of the plant that has been used in folklore to prepare herbal tinctures and extracts is the large, yellow forking taproot. It has been part of the folklore of people throughout history, including the Zuni, and First Nations civilizations. It was believed to be supportive, cleansing and nourishing. Modern science has discovered that Yellow dock contains many constituents, including anthroquinone glycosides, antioxidants, including Vitamin A and Vitamin C, and minerals such as Potassium and Iron.
